Advanced University Diploma in Critical Care Nursing
Course summary This program has been accredited by the Singapore Nursing Board, to provide training in the area of critical care nursing. The set-up at Ngee Ann Polytechnic will be an effective learning tool for hands-on management of life-threatening situations in simulated clinical environment with the use of the high fidelity human simulators. The course aims to train nurses to improve the standard of care provided to critically ill patients and their families, to facilitate early and accurate diagnostic assessment, to advance the science of critical care nursing and to support research initiatives. Participants are exposed to various technologies relevant to the field; such as dialysis, intra-aortic balloon counter pulsation, mechanical ventilation, cardiac monitoring and pacing, implantable pacemaker, and neurological invasive monitoring.

Logistician / Sanitation Engineer for Haiti – short term contract
(4-6 weeks, starting as soon as possible in November)
Introduction
After the earthquake in Haiti Caritas Germany started an emergency health intervention in Leogane, a city of 100.000 inhabitants west of Port-au-Prince. The health intervention is managed by the company which is placed in Germany on behalf of Caritas. With the cholera epidemic out of control and Hurricane Thomas passing through, the desolate displaced camps in Leogane are at acute danger of becoming centres for epidemics to spread. A cholera prevention programme was started to improve sanitation and educational levels in two camps in Leogane.
Overall Job Purpose
The Logistician/Sanitation Engineer is responsible for the rapid implementation and management of a sanitation component for Caritas Germany in Leogane, Haiti, designing the response and ensuring best practice whilst adhering to Carita’s principles and values.
Contract information
The contract period is set out for 28 working days, due to the urgency of the cholera epidemic the work must be finished before Christmas 2010. The possibility for an extension can be discussed depending on the development of the overall situation. Conditions of employment (consultancy contract) will be according to the Institute’s regulations. The daily rate varies between € 300,- and € 400,-, depending on age and experience. Per diem will be paid according to German law.
