Appropriate Laboratory Technologies
Date: 09 to 13 November 2009
Venue: Medical Mission Institute, Germany
The course
Appropriate Laboratory Technologies from 09 to 13 November 2009 will impart knowledge on the setup of a laboratory in resource-poor countries, which diseases are predominant, what means are available for diagnosis, and how to offer maximum service at minimal cost and resources. Experts and facilitators will provide deep insight into the field of appropriate laboratory technologies.
The one-week training course uses a mixture of theoretical lectures, practical lab work and microscopy. It will provide a broad overview on laboratory work without electricity up to the level of national reference laboratories where complex analyses can be carried out.
At the end of the course participants will be able to explain needs and differences in sophisticated laboratories and laboratories in resource-poor settings. They will be prepared for projects in developing countries, will receive a comprehensive update on recent developments in the field of diagnosis of infectious/tropical diseases, and get an overview on issues such as safety, procurement and maintenance as well as waste management.
Please see the attached
programme outline for more details and registration.
