Erasmus Summer Programme 2013

What are you doing next summer?

If you're a student, researcher, executive or advisor in the health sciences, how about some á la carte research training in medicine and health?

The Erasmus Summer Programme focuses on key principles and methods of quantitative medical research. Consisting of 30 topical courses, 4 lectures and 3 master classes in just 3 weeks, it's open to all students and health professionals, and provides essential updates across a range of applied medical and healthcare disciplines.

You can enroll for 1, 2 or 3 weeks in a single discipline, or design your own individual programme by mixing and matching courses from different disciplines. The first week provides introductory and advanced courses, the second focuses on methodology courses, and the third on advanced courses.The MSc in Health Sciences and the MSc in Clinical Research start with the Erasmus Summer Programme. Executive Course on Global Health Diplomacy

Diplomacy is undergoing profound changes in the 21st century – and global health is one of the areas where this is most apparent. The negotiation processes that shape and manage the global policy environment for health are increasingly conducted not only between public health experts representing health ministries of nation states but include many other major players at the national level and in the global arena.

The course focuses on health diplomacy as it relates to health issues that transcend national boundaries as well as how they are being addressed by different groups and at different levels of governance.

Human Rights for Development

29th July to 23rd August 2013, Antwerp, Belgium

Advanced international training course on human rights in development

A joint initiative of the Flemish Interuniversity Research Network on Law and Development in cooperation with the Institute of Development Policy and Management (University of Antwerp) and several renowned experts of the Institute for Tropical Medicine (University of Antwerp)

The course maps the potential and limits of human rights in development and development cooperation. The course consists of a general part and a thematic part on the right to health. It targets ‘leaders of the future’ in practice, policy and academia.

The deadline for applications is 15 March 2013. A limited number of scholarships is available.

33rd International Symposium of Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine

19th to 22nd March 2013, Brussels, Belgium

The 33rd ISICEM is open to all physicians, nurses and other health professionals with an interest in critical care or emergency medicine and aims to provide participants with an up-to-date review of the most recent, clinically relevant, developments in research, therapy, and management of the critically ill patient. Organized by the Departments of Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine of Erasme University Hospital, Brussels, in association with the Belgian Society of Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (SIZ), this annual meeting has become established as one of the largest in its field, now attracting more than 5630 participants from countries world-wide.

Invited speakers are well-known experts in their field, and more than 200 take part each year. Different session formats include 'state of the art' lectures, mini-symposia, workshops, round table discussions, 'meet the expert' sessions, pro/con debates, tutorials, and demonstrations.

This is a great chance to catch-up with all the very latest pathophysiologic, diagnostic, technologic, and therapeutic advances in this field and also to meet with colleagues from around the globe, to share and exchange practical information and experiences.
