Fundamentals of Search & Rescue | Northumberland

Through a unique partnership between WEM & Northumberland Mountain Rescue, we’re bringing you an exciting and challenging four-day course introducing you to the fundamental knowledge and skills required by search and rescue medical teams.
Whether you’re interested in the work of SAR teams, looking to broaden your expedition skillset, or simply want to be better equipped for emergencies at the crag or mountainside, this course has something for you. Content will have significant carryover to traditional pre-hospital and in-hospital settings.
Overview
Both WEM and Mountain Rescue teams do their best work when collaborating with team members, with improved outcomes, innovation and performance at the heart of this. This course brings together teams passionate about collaborating to work together offering you the best of their experience.
From rivers to mountain tops the course will teach you the fundamentals of mountain rescue, incorporating both technical and medical aspects of the work. The course will deliver theory content building into practical technical rescue sessions which will further evolve to incorporate medical simulation.
On the final day, we will have the privilege of joining the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team (NNPMRT) on a full training exercise. You will work directly with NNPMRT team members in their training exercise putting to test all the skills you have learnt and further developing your abilities in rescue situations.
