Alpine Medicine Course
6th to 11th February 2022, Julian Alps, Slovenia.
An exciting and comprehensive 6-day Alpine Medicine course designed to open the world of expedition medicine to doctors, nurses, paramedics and other medical professionals wanting to add adventure into their career.
This new course blends winter mountaineering skills, advanced expedition medicine skills, altitude and cold weather medicine.
Your course will start with 2 days of theory and workshops before we head into the mountains to learn mountaineering skills, rescue techniques and put your newly acquired wilderness medicine knowledge to the test.
During the course we’ll have sole use of an apartment building, allowing us to use the grounds and teaching spaces for various preparatory workshops and skill sessions. On day 4 we’ll head off on a 2-day expedition in the mountains spending one night in a local mountain hut.
Throughout the course, we will deliver short, focused lectures delivering essential content which will be built upon, enhanced and challenged through intense case-based scenarios. As groups, we will discuss and evaluate performance allowing us to enhance our skills through each scenario.
Both medical and expedition content is integrated to replicate the challenge of real expeditions, help shape your thought processes and enable you to function in extreme and resource-poor environments.
