In 2022, the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) will celebrate its 25th anniversary and take stock of the substantial accomplishments in public health over the last quarter century. At the same time, we will look forward and discuss the challenges and policy options for action urgently needed across sectors, borders, and disciplines at this watershed moment for health, security, and solidarity. This is the window of opportunity to co-create a true European Health Union!
“Building forward better” requires fundamental transformation of the way our societies operate – and this can only be achieved through peace in Europe, supported by political will, collaboration, and unity. Only by shooting for the moon and leaving “business as usual” firmly in the past do we stand a chance of succeeding in our mission to build a healthier, more equitable, and sustainable future for all. Under the main theme “A moonshot for a true European Health Union – if not now, when?”, the EHFG 2022 will take place as a hybrid conference in Bad Hofgastein, Austria from 27 – 29 September.
The call for this year’s scholarship applications opens in April, and the EHFG welcomes applications from early-career professionals from the countries of the World Health Organization (WHO) European Region.
Participation in the YFG programme introduces young health professionals to the EHFG community and the European public health scene in general. It also offers scholars a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the annual EHFG conference as interviewers, moderators, or rapporteurs, and get involved in discussions on the current challenges and developments in health in Europe and beyond. The professional competences and knowledge of the scholars will be strengthened through the tailored YFG programme including skills-building and thematic workshops, as well as plenty of networking possibilities.
Who can apply?
Apply to become a YFG scholar if you:
- hold citizenship of one of the countries of the WHO European Region
- are under 35 years of age at the starting day of the conference (27 September 2022)
- hold a Master’s degree
- have at least two years of fulltime work experience in the field of (public) health
The call for applications remains open until Monday 2 May, and detailed information on the scholarship and selection criteria can be found on the EHFG website.
