To find solutions to today’s complex global health challenges, it is essential to understand and react to health issues in an integrated way. Whether you complete the full Diploma of Advanced Studies in Health Care and Management: From Research to Application (DAS HCM) or individual modules as a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), you will be equipped with the core competences to understand and address complex health challenges through collaborative interventions. In addition to developing your health knowledge and methodological skills, the curriculum will also enhance your social and personal competencies required for leadership and management positions in health.

By enrolling in Swiss TPH’s Health Care and Management courses, you will connect with experts from different fields and a highly international student community, enhancing your position in the health sector.
You can complete the DAS HCM in 14 weeks on a full-time basis or in a modular way over 2 to 3 years. The full programme covers three modules. By completing one or two modules, you can obtain a CAS either in Health Research and Interventions (modules A and B) or in Health Systems and Management (module 3), respectively. It is easy to progress from a CAS to the DAS HCM and then to the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in International Health, which is offered in collaboration with the European Network for Education in International Health (tropEd).
Module A: Concepts and Research Methods: learning skills and research methods from social science, epidemiology and statistics
Module B: Health Issues and Responses: determinants of health, reproductive and child health, communicable and non-communicable diseases
Module C: Health Systems, Management and Communication: health system management and transferrable skills needed in managerial positions
To achieve an optimal learning experience, Swiss TPH’s courses employ a diverse spectrum of teaching methods, such as lectures and demonstrations, individual and group work, laboratory practicals, tutorials and visits. The focus is on a lively exchange of experiences, ideas and mutual learning among participants and facilitators, alike. The course participants and teaching team reflect various disciplines, countries and experiences.
The courses are open to participants from various backgrounds and countries. Participants are mostly trained health professionals (e.g. medical doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists), though participants from other disciplines (e.g. business or social sciences) also contribute to class diversity.
The advanced studies programmes in Health Care and Management are accredited by the University of Basel. The DAS HCM also serves as the core course for the MAS in International Health offered through the tropEd network.
