The surgical treatment of a benign prostate enlargement has changed from an open to an endoscopic procedure within the last decades. Even very large prostate glands are suitable for endoscopic treatment due to new techniques and a better armamentarium. Modification to techniques and instruments leads to a reduction of operative time, improved safeness and better functional results for the patient.

Due to the changes in endoscopic surgery on BPH we can now choose between dierent types of lasers with dierent features and a dierent safety profile. Furthermore, with the transurethral bipolar enucleation we have a completely dierent technique for the treatment of the BPH.

The EEP (Endoscopic enucleation of the Prostate) symposium will show the surgical steps of the enucleation of the prostate with the dierent available systems. Dierences between laser enucleation (Holmium, Thulium) and bipolar enucleation are demonstrated in live and semi-live surgeries.

The symposium, taking place at the Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, will be held by the Department of Urology in collaboration with the Austrian Board of Endourology.
