The European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) is pleased to share with you the Programme of the EHFG 2022 and extend a warm invitation to register for this year’s hybrid conference, taking place in Bad Hofgastein, Austria from 26 – 29 September 2022.

Under the patronage of the Austrian Federal President, Alexander Van der Bellen, and guided by the theme “A moonshot for a true European Health Union – if not now, when?”, this year’s EHFG sets out to discuss the urgent challenges and policy solutions needed for unified action across sectors, borders, and disciplines at this watershed moment for health, security, and solidarity.

More than ever before, stakeholders in health must reach beyond traditional spheres of health policy and towards the co-creation of wellbeing societies, based on new socio-economic models and a “One Health for One Planet” approach. Building forward better requires fundamental transformation of the way our societies operate – and this can only be achieved through peace in Europe, supported by political will, collaboration, and fresh thinking.

Setting the scene for the EHFG 2022, the first plenary will reflect on the complex challenges currently faced by Europe, how they will impact and reshape the European Union, and what they mean for the future of health and well-being. The second plenary will discuss the challenges being encountered and the progress being made to implement a One Health approach and asks what a One Health approach means in practice for different stakeholders. Finally, coming together in the closing plenary, prominent health actors will examine how a true European Health Union can offer solutions to the challenges that the continent is currently confronted with.
