13th to 16th April 2025, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The European Conference on Interventional Oncology (ECIO) has firmly established itself as the premier gathering for professionals specializing in minimally invasive cancer treatments. Building on the success of previous congresses, the 2025 edition promises to be even more dynamic, with an exciting lineup of new session formats, groundbreaking research, and an even greater emphasis on collaborative teamwork.
Interventional oncology pioneers have worked tirelessly to solidify their role in cancer care, and with increasing recognition each year, the field is now looking towards the future. The work done so far has paved the way for innovations, and the 2025 congress will highlight both the rapid advancements and the exciting potential that research offers.
Key sessions at ECIO 2025 will delve into the transformative changes that have shaped the specialty, as well as the possibilities emerging research holds. One notable session, „HCC management from 2020 to 2025: the revolution in…“, will explore the significant progress in areas such as epidemiology, resection and transplantation, ablation, and radiation oncology. This will be followed by „HCC management from 2025 to 2030 – get ready for the beta generation“, which will offer an intriguing glimpse into the future of HCC care.
The popular “Meet the PI” session will return, offering insights into the design and early outcomes of upcoming clinical trials. Additionally, discussions on current hot topics like immuno-oncology, AI in interventional oncology (IO), and the broader future of IO will provoke thoughtful dialogue among attendees.
For those interested in established practices, there will be clinical focus sessions on topics such as understanding the „oligo“ patient, mastering the treatment of Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC), and managing osseous metastases using IO.
This year, ECIO 2025 will place an even stronger emphasis on multidisciplinary care. It’s the perfect time to invite a colleague to the conference! As part of the Collaborating Against Cancer Initiative, free attendance and travel support will be provided to physicians from related specialties who are eager to learn about the benefits IO can offer.
ECIO 2025 is designed to support professionals at every stage of their careers. Junior attendees will benefit from dedicated basic courses covering breast, thyroid, and prostate cancer. A new two-part series called “How to perform a safe and effective procedure: a step-by-step approach” will be of particular interest to young IOs. These sessions will include patient selection guidelines, a demonstrative video with expert commentary, and key takeaways.
In addition to the scientific programme, participants will have numerous opportunities to engage in hands-on device training, where they can gain practical experience with the latest IO technologies. There will be sessions on tumour ablation techniques, musculoskeletal oncology interventions, and dosimetry and administration systems for radioembolization.
