The International Research Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health (IRCIMH) will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, Florida, USA, on May 13-16, 2014. The Congress is convened by theConsortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, a group of 57 esteemed academic health centers and affiliated institutions. This Congress will also serve as the 9th annual International Congress on Complementary Medicine Research (ICCMR) sponsored by the International Society for Complementary Medicine Research (ISCMR). The Consortium is committed to making this Congress the premier international forum for Integrative Medicine research.
Integrative Medicine is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, and is informed by evidence. Integrative medicine includes many disciplines, types of practitioners, and therapeutic approaches; the evidence base is complex and growing quickly. The International Research Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health focuses on the evidence base in the practice of Integrative Medicine. We expect more than 1,200 researchers, clinicians, and trainees from around the world to attend. The Congress organizers invite individuals from all disciplines and professions engaged in integrative medicine and health to attend.
The IRCIMH’s mission is to foster the development of new collaborations and to strengthen existing partnerships within the field of Integrative Medicine. This Congress will showcase original scientific research through keynote and plenary sessions, oral and poster presentations, and innovative sessions. Integrative medicine and health research areas to be presented and discussed include basic science, clinical trials, lifestyle and prevention, methodology, health services, cost effectiveness, and education.
The 2012 International Research Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health was held in Portland, Oregon. The Congress had over 1000 participants, representing 30 countries. Of the attendees, over 250 were trainees, students, and new investigators. We saw an increase of over 200 attendees from 2009 and we anticipate the Congress in Miami to continue to grow in its international stature and number of participants.
