Medical professionals will earn 18.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This conference is designed to fulfill the Marine Medicine requirement of the Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine but is open to any interested Wilderness Medical Society member. You must be an active WMS member to participate.
Objectives:
Following this program, we expect participants will be able to:
1. Describe the presentation and treatment of hazardous marine life
2. Describe the presentation and treatment of dysbarisms, barotrauma, immersion pulmonary edema and breath hold diving
3. Describe the presentation and treatment of water sport injuries, submersion injuries, cold water immersion and hazards of the surf zone
4. Describe the application of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, diving injuries and special populations
5. Describe and understand the interplay between marine ecosystems, human impacts, climate change and human health
