This part-time programme has been designed to be applicable to students with a wide range of background skills in paediatrics, who require a detailed understanding of:
- core research methodologies
- critical evaluation
- evidence-based approaches
- early life origins and scientific basis of childhood disease
- innovations in diagnosis and treatment within paediatrics
The programme will also give students the opportunity to:
- explore ideas around leadership development and the management of paediatric services
- develop skills in teaching, learning and educational research within a paediatric setting
- experience the benefits of working and learning within a diverse multi-professional team
Depending on the level and direction of your ambitions, you have the option to study for:
Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) (9 months)
Offering a sound theoretical background to the principles of evidence-based medicine and critical evaluation, broad coverage of the scientific basis and early life origins of childhood disease and focus on innovations in diagnosis and treatment within paediatrics. (more details)
Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) (2 years)
Allows students to develop their skills in more specialised subjects directed towards their own practice and research such as the science and evidence-base around infection, allergy and illness, whilst other students may want to use the options in this year to explore aspects of child public health, adolescent health and social paediatrics. Full MSc (2 or 3 year programme)
Students who continue to the MSc will also benefit from a comprehensive academic training, an introduction to appropriate research methods and practice and the opportunity for intellectual development within a stimulating yet supportive environment. (more details)
