Have you wondered lately where our world is heading? You surely follow the news about Brexit, or international politics in general. Maybe you have read the news headlines about measles breaking out across Europe again. Maybe you have wondered “What can we do?” or “Is this the new status quo?”.
A healthy dose of disruption will be the main theme of the European Health Forum Gastein 2019. There are many ways to define disruption, and as many to use it to our advantage in order to create transformative change. Often, this is seen as innovations shaking up the market. But disruption can also take form in health research and policy across Europe. During the EHFG 2019 we aim to explore whether the answer to the disrupted world that we live in today might be more disruption. How can health keep up in an era where digitalisation is speeding ahead and climate change has become a tangible and nearly irrevocable threat? How do we define a healthy dose of disruption, and where should we draw the line?
These are themes that will be explored in our plenary sessions. In the framework of the EHFG 2019, we will organise our second Hackathon this year, in collaboration with EIT Health. 35 brilliant participants from different fields will bring their skills together to come up with creative solutions to one of the top 10 global health concerns: vaccine hesitancy. We invite you to stay tuned to see which innovative solution might provide the answer to curb current worrying trends.
