Our client is a secondary care hospital located in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, currently undergoing a comprehensive strategic transformation. As part of this process, geriatric services are to be significantly expanded and established as a key medical focus area within the hospital.

We are looking for a Chief Physician who combines medical excellence with entrepreneurial thinking and enjoys actively shaping innovative care concepts for older patients. In addition to acute geriatric care, particular emphasis will be placed on the further development of early rehabilitation, outpatient, and cross-sector treatment services. Close collaboration with the departments of Internal Medicine, Geriatric Trauma Care, Neurology, Palliative Care, as well as external healthcare partners, will be a key factor for success.

Your responsibilities:

  • Overall medical, organizational, and financial responsibility for the Department of Geriatrics
  • Strategic development of geriatric services
  • Establishment and further development of acute geriatric, early rehabilitation, and outpatient care programs
  • Development of integrated care pathways between hospital services, rehabilitation facilities, outpatient care providers, and nursing institutions
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with related medical specialties
  • Professional and organizational leadership of the multidisciplinary team
  • Ensuring high medical quality standards and economic performance of the department
  • Further development of existing center structures, particularly in the field of geriatric traumatology
  • Representation of the department towards cooperation partners and referring physicians
  • Participation in strategic hospital development projects

Your profile & our requirements:

  • Board-certified specialist (m/f/d) in Internal Medicine, General Practice/Family Medicine, or Neurology
  • Additional qualification or subspecialty certification in Geriatrics
  • Several years of experience in a senior physician or leadership position within a geriatric institution
  • In-depth expertise in acute geriatric care and early rehabilitation complex treatment programs
  • Experience in establishing and further developing geriatric care structures
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Sound business acumen and experience in organizational change processes
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Collaborative and appreciative leadership style
  • Commitment to actively contributing to the strategic development of the hospital
  • Teaching authorization and/or academic qualifications are considered an advantage

For international applicants:

  • German medical license (Approbation) or eligibility to obtain German Approbation
  • Recognized specialist qualification or eligibility for specialist recognition in Germany
  • Additional qualification in Geriatrics or eligibility for recognition of equivalent qualifications
  • German language proficiency at C1 level required
